Where Are We Going, And Why Are We In This Handbasket?
So the U.S. voting populace apparently really is that gullible. I guess I should focus on the two silver linings from yesterday's election. The more important one is that the Democrats didn't get their filibuster-proof 60 seats in the Senate. The other is that we should get at least a three week break until the political ads start up for the 2010 election cycle.
Maybe it's not so bad. The economy is in the crapper right now, and no matter what the POTUS does, it looks like it will be staying there for a while. There's also no way that Obama will be able to keep his campaign promise to remove all the troops from Iraq in 18 months. Those are massive footholds for conservatives for the midterm 2010 election and the 2012 presidential election. Maybe by 2012 the Republicans will wise up and nominate a good candidate like Mitt Romney. You know, like they should have done this year.
Hold on, the next four years could be a bumpy ride.

Silver lining #3: Obama will do away with the embargo on Cuba and we'll be able to purchase Cuban cigars legally instead of having to cross the border to Canada to buy cheap knockoffs at exorbitant prices.
